Annual CAB Meeting Challenge

It is almost time for our annual elections. The CAB is leading up an effort to find members who are willing to serve on the Chapter Advisory Board. Serving on the CAB is an excellent way to make more sewing friends. The single most advantageous reason to serve on the CAB is that you get to help shape the future for our Chapter. Please consider running for an office and let anyone on the CAB know if you are interested. The election ballot will be included with the next issue of the Full Seam Ahead newsletter. New officers will be introduced at the Annual Meeting.

Our Annual Meeting is being planned for Saturday, October 21st, 2017. We are still planning the location, menu, and program. We do know that the event will be free to all Current members, and it will be educational and entertaining.

Simple to Simply Devine will be the title of the Annual Meeting. It will feature a fashion show of items made in the challenge, by all our members, to show off everyone's beautiful designs.

A Sewing Weekend with Pamela Leggett of Pamela’s Patterns
Nationally known Teacher, Author and Designer
Click here for the Registration Form.

Pamela Leggett has been teaching sewing since 1981. Specializing in pattern fitting, fine garment sewing skills, knits and serging. She has developed a fun and informative teaching style that is available in her patterns and instructional DVD's.
One of Pamela's passions is creating garments that flatter and fit the wearer. Her desire to teach others to achieve the perfect fit led her to the Palmer/Pletsch pattern fitting method, which she has used to help hundreds of women successfully achieve good fit and a renewed love of garment sewing. It is with this knowledge that she created Pamela's Patterns, which have many fitting solutions and adjustments built in the patterns.
Pamela's Patterns have been reviewed and featured in magazines and on-line review sites.  Pamela is a contributing writer, book author and DVD personality for Threads Magazine, an instructor for Craftsy online classes, director of the Palmer/Pletsch Philadelphia and Connecticut Sewing Workshops and a national sewing/serging educator. She has also appeared on PBS’s Sewing With Nancy and Canada’s The Shopping Channel.

Lecture / Demo Trunk Show Friday, June 9 – 7:00 – 9:00 PM
What makes for well fitted garments?  As our bodies mature, good fit becomes more difficult to achieve.   Pamela will explain what changes we go through and how to alter patterns to get a more flattering look.  Has it been awhile since you have attempted to make clothing for yourself?  Come and be inspired to make simple and versatile pieces that work well for casual and dressy occasions – and everything in between.  Get ideas on how to change a basic pattern to adapt for many different looks.  In no time at all you’ll be making your own wardrobe that fits and flatters all your curves!
Hands On Design Workshop, Saturday, June 10 - 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Have you ever wondered how pattern designers create their styles? This class will show you how to create different necklines, sleeves, backs and hems to make the most of Pamela's Patterns well-fitting patterns.  Working from pattern #104 The Perfect T-Shirt, you will see how simple changes can make this pattern do double and triple duty!  You will be creating pattern pieces and get instructions to make many variations.  Every design has a “learning opportunity”! This class is guaranteed to get your inner-designer inspired!
There are many styles to choose from, the following are examples of what we will be offered.  We’ll get as many done as time allows:
Peek-a-Boo Swing Top                        Flowy Top w/ back yoke and zip      Asian-Inspired T-Shirt
The “Phyllis” Neckline            Sleeve Variations                               Godet Top
Shaped Back                           Cowl Neckline                                   Stretch Lace T

We will devote one hour at the start of the class to measure for correct pattern size, prepare and alter the pattern.

Hands On Serger Workshop, Sunday, June 11 – 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

A great class for serger owners old and new! Spend time and really learn what your serger can do for you besides just finish an edge. Maintenance, threading, tensions, differential feed, rolled hem, flatlocking, lace, and more will be done on your own machine. Plus you will see a vast array of samples to inspire future projects. This class has been the inspiration for many of the articles Pamela has written for Threads Magazine. A wonderful way to learn the full potential of your serger!
