Alexandria Seamsters - 9/16, 7 pm
Pam will be leading our program on Sewing Construction Order. I think we've all worked with patterns that we have created or modified, and the order of construction often needs to be determined or changed. Why do we want to put the zipper in at a certain point? Why do we want to sew one seam before another seam when it's not intuitive? Come hear what Pam has discovered and share your knowledge--often learned the hard way after you've had to rip something out!
Franconia Government Center, 6121 Franconia Rd, Alexandria, VA
Springfield Sharing Threads – 9/18, 10 am
This is a hands-on program.
Hand-picked zippers add a wonderful detail to your garments. They can be embellished in many ways or become almost invisible. Bring a sewing kit with needle, thread snips and straight pins. Please share your experiences, examples or ideas at the meeting.
West Springfield Government Center, Conference Room 200, 6140 Rolling Road, West Springfield, VA
Kingstowne Clothiers – 9/21, 10:30 am
We will be finishing our work using the Top Down Center Out pants-fitting technique.
At the August meeting, we had four sewists who received assistance with the waist, crotch, and pant leg fitting. We’ll see the next iteration, and/or final project, and review lessons learned at the September meeting! Bring your makes for Show and Tell!
